Tonight was one that I and longtime Jazz fans will never forget. The legendary broadcaster and the voice of Jazz basketball for 35 years Hot Rod Hundley was honored at tonight's game.
There was a halftime ceremony for Hot's and a banner was unvailed to hang in the rafters of the Delta Center alongside notable Jazz-men such as Jeff Hornacek, Karl Malone, and John Stockton.
In addition to that the Jazz renamed the media center The Hot Rod Hundley Media Center.
The room is filled with Hot Rod memorabilia that documents his entire career starting with his humble beginnings at West Virgina University to his days playing for the Lakers capping it off with his 42 years in broadcasting. What's even cooler about the room is that all of the pictures are made up of words and phrases. That's a great touch because Hot Rod will always be well known for his ability to paint a picture of what was happening on the court with just a few words and phrases.
Hundley broadcasted over 3000 games as the voice of the Jazz.
Here is the video of Hot Rod's ceremony at halftime.
